Great that Lanny is getting back in the “game” of chasing DX and just getting involved with ham radio in general again. Small world, your family connections with each other now, Joel. One never knows what’s next. HI

As some of you know, my profession for the past 40 years has been nondestructive testing in the nuclear power industry. One of our clients was the former Yankee Atomic Electric Company that operated a number of nuclear power plants in New England. I was at the Vermont Yankee plant and had a free weekend just prior to the start of the refueling outage. I heard about a ham group meeting that weekend just a few miles up the road where they would be talking about a "brand new" digital mode for amateur radio I wanted to learn a bit more about.....packet radio! So I was visiting with the folks and when Lanny found out I lived in Arkansas the told me he had a sister (I believe two, actually) that lived in Arkansas and he asked where. He was surprised to learn it was Searcy, where they lived. I did not know his sister but did know his brother-in-law.

Since that time they have all been shut down and are in the process of being decommissioned. Lots of good memories in working those plants in New England. Kim and I spent a lot time there but I'm glad those days are behind me!

Lanny has added a few new ones with his activity since returning to HF in April of this year. He was first licensed in 1959 in Vermont. He retired to Searcy in 2019 and has assembled a nice station. Thanks for sharing your info Lanny.
