Saw a spot for KC4USV last night about 8PM CST. Went to 14.074 and he popped
up weak at -17 long enough for me to park on his frequency. Monitored it in
the background, and JTAlert went off about 30 minutes later. Watched him
work a CE station at -8. Called him right after and he came back to me with
a +01 signal report. Finished the call, got him in the log, and he
disappeared. Ha! That was fun. Been seeing him, 8J and another station in
the evening about that time on different bands, but that was the strongest.
This was the McMurdo Research Station on Ross Island. I discovered the
station at the South Pole is KC4AAA, so he's in Ham Alert for next time!
Good DXing and 73,
Scott/W5AAJ
