Thanks info, Steve. I looked back on that date, June 19, 2010, and I worked about 40 JA's, too. Nice opening.
I mentioned June 20 as being a good day for Europe, while looking back at the June 19 date, I noticed on the next day, June 20, 2010, I worked 80 Europeans. It was a broad opening from Italy, Bulgaria, Ukraine and north across Europe to LA, OH, and SM.
Folks, thanks for checking for those JA grids I needed.

Rick, I checked and I did not work any of those grids the other night. And to add one last comment on bigger openigs. Besides that June 6, 2006 opening, my best run was Jun 16, 2010. A little over an hour only, but I worked 40 during the opening.

It’s amazing how consistent year to year some of the 6 meter openings can be, almost to the day, to Europe. Not as much so for JA, but somewhat, especially the June 4-6 timeframe. Watch June 20-21 for Europe. One of the biggest openings I had to JA was 14 years ago. I started working JA’s at 2355 on June 5 and stopped 1 hour 28 minutes later at 0123, June 6. I worked 161 JA’s, close to two per minute for an hour and half, all on CW. I didn’t look back past 15 years but seems I recall another opening when I worked 180+ JA’s. That may have been back in the 80-90’s but I couldn’t find the logs to check as they are in the attic or out in the shop. For those that worked the recent JA opening, please let me know if you worked anyone in these four grids: QN04 QN05 PM62 PN92 Those are the last grids I need in JA and would like to know calls signs to look out for. 73, Rick – K5UR

I never heard any on CW/SSB here either I was monitoring) but as Pat
notes most of the signal levels were in the -15 dB range.
