Agree Joel.
A ham in Texarkana ONLY used the MFJ (I think) readout machine. Never knew Morse code. And he worked 100 countries. We all laughed behind the scenes. To each his own. It is our individual hobby, our money spent and time invested and what we want to do that is of INTEREST at a given time.

The lack of FT8 has cost me a multitude of countries on 60m and 6m alone,  but it is not in my interest to “catch up or get ahead” of others just to play ego games.. I would be at or very near the 3000 current band countries level if on FT8 to assist me. Each DXer has his or her own reasons for chasing DX, some for fun only and others to keep above others at all costs in our competitive DXing game.  Having a lack of decent antennas or an amplifier or sufficient funds or time or desire are all interwoven as to what we do in our ham hobby.

And then there are the wives who could be frowning in the background or lack of spending time with family as we should. As always, to each his own, and behind someone in “standings” is no big deal to the majority of us as we get older and more content … As I have said for years now, IIWII.

Just glad that Earl, Rick, FUV, Joel and others are in there frequently enough to keep our ADXA name out there for all DXers to see on a daily basis when chasing DX that really counts.  Now, perhaps the bands will be showing DX spots and we can chase in these tough summer months. Keeping our ADXA comment site going is important.

Yes, CW is more fun for me as well but what about the many, many folks on CW today that use their computer to decode CW because they can't copy CW....AND, I'm NOT talking about the folks who did not have to pass a Morse exam to obtain a license. I'm talking about the old dogs that can't copy one dit! They're technology dependent also.
