Oh, you mean just like folks calling on the DX frequency when the DX is
split???

Hell San, its the same old thing, just a different mode and no
different. You can't pin that solely on FT8!!

The internal electronics of my Icom 7600s do the RTTY and NO external hookups to my PC across the room and installation of FT8 technology software which has evolved to FT4 too and others predicted in the next year, etc. Even today, many FT8 guys get confused about just how, when and where to call a DX station and DX Summit is full of corrections. The DXpeditions have to explain just what FT8 protocol they are doing in advance, so as not to confuse those calling. That is good, if you read the editorial updates of the DXpedition and don't call blindly on what you think are the FT8 refinements being used.

So, yes, "attending to" the "situation" _in person _is required and not denied by many 1000s of hams who still call it the "non human mode"... They all have tongues in cheeks and smiles, like K5UR has stated. 😊

It sure has changed ham radio and especially DXing, just like SSB did to AM in the late 50s to early 60s. I was there. Took a while to convert but QSOs were easier on the narrower SSB passband and with weaker signals being copied.
