[ADXA] Fwd: [HCDX] DXpedition Report from Arctic Lapland

I find this fascinating.  I started out as a listener for many years.
It started with a small transistor radio that I listened to at night,
trying to find BCB DX.  Then with a Hallicrafter receiver at neighbor's
across the street.  They had a long-wire on their roof.  Still no SSB.
I had no idea what those sounds were. After that was a Transoceanic.
You could still hear some utility traffic on AM.  Jacksonville NAS was
one with the callsign Phenomenal.  Later on it was an  NRD-515, Icom
R70,  71.  I have always attempted to hear aeronautical beacons in the
200-400 Khz range.  I became very familiar with them when learning to
fly circa 1965.  There aren't many left.  I used to be able to hear them
quite well from my current QTH but the noise now makes it all but
impossible.  There WERE a lot of them in AR at small airports.

I still like to hunt around the top of the AM BCB for DX traffic
stations, airport info, etc.  I can understand the passion of these guys.

Thanks much Trent.  This is great.
