[ADXA] Hygain Versus Yaesu Rotors

I have one of the Yaesu G-2800 rotators on my tower at the suggestion of Gary, WBØRUR.

The 2800 replaced a Hy-Gain T2X that failed after about 5 years.

I bought my 2800 without a rotator controller so I could pair it with a Green Heron RT-21 controller that I really like.

My PC is down and using sparingly my Windows 7 laptop. I have a Yaesu G-1000SDX and NO problems in 20+ years. I would try one for sure and there is a limited warranty from the dealer usually. Don't buy from an individual unless you know them well. HI

The Yaesu rotors are geared much better than the Hygain and as such do not require a mechanical break, an elimination that I really like. I do not like the Yaesu controller. I use the Green Heron controllers on all of my rotors. They have some very nice features. If you're interested purchasing a Yaesu rotor and would like to use a Green Heron controller with it, Green Heron sells the Yaesu rotors with their controllers. You can check it out at:

One advantage with the Hygain rotors is if you have an issue with one they can be rebuilt rather easily and parts are available. I'm not sure about the Yaesu rotors. Fortunately I haven't had a failure yet in order to have to find out.
