[ADXA] My LoTW ideas and multiple DXCCs "out there" to chase ...

Jonathan, thank you for email…
You will do well. The LoTW is great if you convert your logs to a software program, join LoTW and immediately you will see confirmations showing up at the ARRL.. But for me, at my age, I do this for personal pride and not DXCC certificates on all the bands per se. Do have certifs for 160m and 6m and that was enuff other than Mixed, Phone and CW. Have way over 300 confirmed on RTTY but never applied for a digital DXCC, all of which are RTTY and non PSK or FT4/8.. I know I have ‘em and no reason to get another certify on the wall. 😊

Each makes his (or her) own goals. I just did not want to convert almost 30 Yaesu, Kenwood and ARRL log books to digital to get LoTW confirmations. Since 1957 I have enjoyed paper QSLs in hand to show people visiting my old shacks and homes over the years. A younger or an older “new” DXer just starting out will save a lot of money and get confirmations much quicker on LoTW and chase Band DXCCs etc. The buro wait ( much longer now ) is a worsening situation, so confirmations for the ARRL may take a long time that way or even waiting on QSLs you sent for direct replies during the pandemic postal delays...

Some LoTW confirmations require early donations for a direct fast card and LoTW is automatically done to the ARRL, but some nice DXpedition leaders send an immediate LoTW confirm, and in those cases no need to send for paper QSLs direct or buro. It CAN be complicated in so many ways, to each his own… LOL LOL
Get in the chase, you will do well and you should try for some paper cards for sure for your wall displays or shoeboxes!! 😊 I am proud of my many 1000s of paper cards in metal pull drawer cabinets and band shoe boxes!! They all get thrown out when I pass I am told; so I may contact QSL card collectors out there who like “old stuff” with photos on one side and date back decades ago.
73 for now!

Subject: Re: [ADXA] Old cards coming in after recent mailings. Was hoping somewould reply

Mr. San,
I enjoyed your success story. Also, Thank You for your encouragement to try again.
I've been thinking about giving some a second try. Then I reasoned, If they didn't reply the first time, They are even less likely to reply now due to advancing age & reliance on LOTW.

I need Seven to reach one of my Goals. And ONE to reach another goal that is Important to me.
Based on your recent success, and your encouragement, I'm going to give it a shot.
(I can't resist a little humor....  With the pole-dancing clubs all closed, I don't have anything better to do with my One Dollar Bills. I may as well put them in envelopes and mail them across the world.)

Sent out about 50 QSLs with SASE or $2/SAE about 3-4 months ago. Thought I would make a concerted effort to mail direct cards to some unconfirmed band/mode QSOs from YEARS ago. After sending initial QSLs years ago and nothing coming back, I assumed some were lost and that I would spend a few bucks to confirm a few more, if possible. One more attempt! :-)

Recently got QSLs from the late 1990s thru 2011, including AH4/AH7G Midway and SV7CFC. Fun seeing them come thru, some from family members who are QSLing with the original operator terminally ill or in a nursing home, etc. Couple came from deceased operator operations but some friend was assisting and had old logs in hand. One from a ham now living in the USA the past 2 years. Too many situations, but I tried to get a few cards in but will not spend the time again on something just going in a shoebox..  LOL  Just got a wild hair back in April.

So far about 15 new ones to add to my current country 10 band total. With the max at 340 current countries (3400 possible 160-6m) I may not see 3000 confirmed before passing on. If we could throw in 2m, 222 and 432mc, I could help some. 😊
Then there’s 60m and it’s 177 would put me over the 3000. For sum reason the ARRL is staying away from that situation that started July 3, 2003.. IIWII ☹
