That will work. There’s an article in an old Ham Radio magazine by Rob Sherwood with how many to use. I’ll try to find it tomorrow.
However, fence wire, chicken wire, etc. is only good for one season.  It corrodes like crazy.

Question re: radials:  what do think of using some sort of wire fencing such
as chicken wire as a substitute for individual radials?  Is there an
equivalency of say a 3 foot swath of wire for certain number of radials.
There are several of us who would like to see the article about shunt
