Hi San,
I’ve updated your standings info to include 2888 in the Challenge column. Working a new Challenge counter is probably a big deal when you get to 2888! Days/weeks go by with out a new one presenting itself.
With ten “Challenge” bands, 160 - 6M the upper limit is 3400…less individual countries where the regulatory agency has banned operation on certain bands. I looked on the IARU site and found a breakdown of bands available in the three ITU Regions. There are many footnotes associated with each band that describe restrictions on portions of the bands available by country and power restrictions. Didn’t find any info on bands that not available at all. Someone probably has a list of bands activated by entity….since the beginning of the Challenge QSO credit date of November, 1945. The DXCC database of everyone’s entity/band/mode info at ARRL HQ could be “data mined” to come up with such a list. Probably no 160M from P5 or places like BS7H? Some EU countries have very low power limits on 6M. I think Germany is 10W….it appears that some DL’s have found special coax with 20db of gain on 6M! Back in the LORAN days many countries had low power limits on 160M. The current leader for the Challenge Cup is EA8AK @ 3264. The next nine are all from EU. The top North American operator is W4DR in 13th place with 3183. Our very own Rick, K5UR, is at 3163 tied for third highest in North America/USA. FYI, you have to apply for the Desoto Challenge Award when you get to 1000 DXCC band counters (Current Entities) to be listed on the Challenge Award holders web page. There is no certificate but you can order a plaque if you’re into showing off!

Pat

OK.. Thanks for some clarification,Joel. My oversight for sure.
Appears the CHAL column out to the side IS the current country totals for all the bands. I did not take the time to add everything for all older guys to see if it equaled the CHAL column or not. If I had, then I would have seen the band counts included deleted countries like I stated, but they all did NOT go to the CHAL on the far right column.. GOT IT!! CRS on my part.
I am FULLY aware of the ARRL DXCC standings sections for total all time countries and current countries and listed in separate areas and go on and on and on.. hi Fun reading down those callsigns and see some good friends ahead of me on the all time list, like Gary K4MQG.
Now, you win the Jeopardy question of the day… Next time I will take the time to add all band totals and see that CHAL came up with a different #... Again, TU for quick answer. My problem is I still can not go back and put all my deleted counts in all the bands. Too much confusion going thru literally hundreds of cards and reviewing confirmation bands on each. Should have started that years ago. All I know is my challenge count is 2888 and need Pat to put that in my column. Can you tell him if he doesn’t read this? TU
San Now, just where is the Holiday Inn here in Springdale??!! :-)

Well, hmmmm.....who says those band counts are for an award???? You've got me confused now San.
On the ADXA standings list, what we have listed on each band is the total band count, including deleted countries. Not sure what the big deal is that you have an issue with that. It does not signify any "award" just the total on that band. For the column that says "Challenge" that is the current Challenge total for ACTIVE countries only, just what ARRL counts and what the Challenge award is issued against.
My DXCC record from ARRL lists both "total DXCC" and "current DXCC" and in the DXCC records on ARRL.web everyone's total includes deleted.
The only exception is for the DXCC Challenge award that only counts "current" countries.
So, I'm confused at your confusion...................

Over the years I have been in the NCDXC Challenge count and have 2888 and does not count 60m and does NOT count deleted countries.. And I see that the ARRL DXCC Challenge is for CURRENT countries and NOT deleted countries.
A couple of years ago I had my current count with all bands and current DXCC countries but noticed that SOME ADXA members had MORE totals on a couple of bands than current countries, therefore they were counting ALL countries they had worked over the years included deleted ones. 340 is the maximum per band to have confirmed for the Challenge.
My question is this : When one counts ALL countries confirmed including deleted ones and having maybe 355 or 360 on a band, just exactly what do we call THAT kind of award? I took my country count off the ADXA list because I did not want to spend days on going back over all the bands deleted countries I have and figure out and come up with a higher total than the Challenge earmarks. So I have 2888 confirmed 160m thru 6 meters, current countries, and not including 60m naturally, since the ARRL does not recognize any QSOs on 60m to be counted for any ARRL award.
Just trying to clarify, as I say. The indications are that the Desoto Challenge is current countries only and the ARRL calls it the DXCC Challenge too. What is the name of any award out there that allows deleted countries to count and adds all bands together? Some can have 5-6 bands with well over 340 countries. Counting all deleted country confirmations does not seem fair to a NEW ham DXCC chaser who could never have 20-30 deleted countries that the old timers do. Now you would be talking about who has lived longer! HI HI
Based on my totals of 376 mixed and 373 Phone and 353 CW countries, I have 36,33 and 14 deleted countries in those 3 awards, knowing how many bands are involved with each deleted entity would be impossible to determine without much back tracking and looking for cards that have 4-5 band confirmations and cover decades and are stored in several boxes..
I am sure the old guys can tell me what our current ADXA band country standings are called. The NCDXC only counts Challenge #s for each band, current countries... I am sure the answer is simple as to what the ADXA calls its band confirmation standings which includes deleted countries.. This is the quiz for the day, like the final question on Jeopardy by Alex Trebec! 😊
