Thats NASTY! 

I timed the "off" period at about 20 seconds, same as the first "on"
period if the recording was started when the noise pulsed on. Is that
correct?? Its on for around 20 seconds the off for about the same or is
there no correlation between the on/off period?? 

Assume you have not heard this before, correct?? a "new" noise
