[ADXA] 3Y0I RUMOR

Agree with a delay policy, work first and QSL later, Joel. The issue with me is mainly do I want to spend the time and get in huge pileups when I could not get thru, especially on the low bands. Oh, I will call some I am sure but may wait a week or so. I need them on 160-40 and RTTY, as I am sure MOST guys do!
Just no energy here and fast becoming fatigue almost all day. Two – three nights of calling disables me for 2-3 days!! I may have to back out of our CY9C trip in August, the way it looks now. I know when to call it quits.

Yes, I know no QSL policy is firm on the 3Y0 until they get back and decide how much $$ they need and feel comfortable with. That is why I mentioned that in my email that it will be determined after their trip. Your guess is as good as 1000s of other who will work him. Just be prepared for a shock. Those who work the 3Y0 will be paying for what the pre-trip clubs, foundations and DXers don’t contribute, so that will elevate the $ per QSO rate a lot. Going to be interesting to sit back and see what transpires.
Looked for the XR0 tonight on 80 and (ha ha) 160m at the appointed 30 minute window of the SS greyline but nil. They are into FT8 on 80m now. LONG time remaining on their trip..
73 for now guys… going to hit the bed… Close friend has surgery tomorrow so I need to be at the hospital at 8AM..

I'll get excited when (if) they actually get on the air with feet firmly planted on Bouvet Island.
I will work them, if possible, regardless of the QSL policy. That doesn't mean I'll agree to it but as I said here and during our meeting in Russellville thatmy advice, if you need 3Y Bouvet, is to work them and get them in your log (and theirs) then when their QSL policy is announced you can decide if you want to play. If not, at least you are in the log and your position may change in a couple of years and decide you will pay for the card. If you don't work them, you most definitely will NOT have that opportunity and there may never be another Bouvet op in your lifetime!
Just to be clear though, there has been no, absolutely no, factual info on exactly what their QSL policy will be so any speculation at this point, even from me, is just hot air!!!
I think I just called myself a blowhardf!!  :-)))

I am monitoring the boat now. It is still in the same harbor port area but has moved about 100 yards. Anyway, use the Weekly DXer this week by Bernie and click the link to monitor the boat movement ... If moving, it will be a definite increasing line away from the ZS port and then ZS etc.

Standing by for now. Hate to chase, capture and then not agree to the $$ amount they set AFTER the trip for QSOs. No pricing is set now. I will not pay $20 per QSO, even if I got them on 30 and 40m and RTTY. Got on all other bands except 160/80 and NO WAY I can do that. Gosh, the pileups are gg to be an ear buster unless you are watching FT8, PSK and RTTY... hi
Keep breathing Joel! I will too. Wonder what the 3Y0I wives are doing during these past 3 months with another 2+ months to go? My wife almost divorced me after 4 trips I took for 4-5 weeks each time in the 70s and 80s. The kids wondered who I was when I returned; the 'guy' she almost divorced. Married 55 years now, so did something right. Hmmm. Maybe she did want me to go away a while???

There is a rumor....repeat RUMOR, that the Atlantic Tuna, the boat
contracted to carry the 3Y0I team to Bouvet Island, is "leaving its
South Africa harbor tomorrow morning". You can track the upcoming
expedition to Bouvet at:

Again, this is a RUMOR. I'm not holding my breath, and do not recommend
you do either, although I'm hoping this will be the start of what has
been one of the most interesting DXPedition preparations that I can
remember!
