[ADXA] FT modes revisited.. some reasonable fixes to preserve CW and SSB just a bit longer.

Nice and envious to you guys that got on VHF and UHF years ago. Now I wish I had, but there are still new trails to path down.

Agree with Rick.. I worked BV also on 6m but not as lucky as Rick on working China. H to H if real radio, in my opinion too, regardless that many DXers still work FT8 despite audio dB being in the range for CW and SSB. I can see if someone needs an ATNO and that entity is only on FT8, go ahead and work ‘em until CW, SSB or RTTY comes along. But if a new band mode is not needed, then leave FT8 alone unless needed for digital mode award, since it is combined with RTTY, JT etc dig modes. That agreement would preserve CW and SSB. If you have a DXCC entity confirmed for your band-mode DXCC awards and continue to work FT8 at the high dB audio range for sake of doing PC-PC contacts, I just do not agree with that, you’ve already proven you can work ‘em on FT8.

I can sorta agree with FT on 6m because it is in when nothing is heard on F2, E skip etc modes. I wish FT programs would BLOCK a QSO if both sides are 0 to + dB range. Strong FT8 stations are distorted and using a KW as some do is just NOT needed. So, strongly agree with Rick. I am getting off 6m since FT8 is hindering DXpeds to try CW when signals are in the CW audio range of -10 to 0 dB range. They just stay on FT, and some of the ops do NOT KNOW CW anyway. And FT is confusing as to FH or HF and what freq up, what offset, which FT submode is used. DX Summit is FULL of comments from FT8 users about confusions on where and what sequence (odd or even) etc. Even seasoned FT8 users get confused. Strange situation facing us and the ‘over use’ syndrome involving FT8 and FT4 now..

I worked China, BA4SI, and BV also, on 6 meters a few years ago, human to human, none of that digital stuff where you can't hear the station. (hi).

Good one. I saw some west coast guys posted him last night and a VK was copying KA9CFD. Have to listen this evening to see if they are in there again. I got in a little later and didn’t hear anything good

Guys this seems to be real. I am pointed in the right direction and printing out BA4SI on 6m FT8. Even on that mode it is hard for me to believe. Sadly I don’t have enough power for the BA4 to see me! ☹

I was telling Bill K5FUV that I was seeing some countries all over the UK and now in the far east.

That does it, the manual on the 7 element M2 is on the bench and been looking at 6m amps, hi.

BTW, he is a -17 on me right now. Has been as high as -12
