They will be fully on island tomorrow. Bad weather now the team says. Think only 2 on island now, maybe 3. Had helicopter instrument issues and delayed one day to get to Ding Wall, then to CY9 Northeast point. One team member owns the helicopter and the one we were going to use in 2018 which was delayed til 2019 due to couple of considerations and to make sure the date plan was to not interfere with our CY0 trip scheduled later to Sable. I had to back out 2 months ago for 2 medical problems as did N0TG, my good friend. Nice team members and good experience, especially with EME, digital etc and good QSO rates. Anyway, they will do 60m and listen on 6m too, so perhaps some single hop E skip will occur in Arkansas.
Signals here on 10mc and 14mc were Q5 here and I worked at 0003Z on 20m. 10mc had a lot of improper DX calling including on his frequency and by someone just yelling W7, W7, W7, calling up 5 and not working him.. you might know who it was. Don’t most people give their suffix too?” On the DXped end if someone says W7, W7 three time I bypass them. He finally worked the CY9 and I was right on who is was in Oregon.
Doubt another CY9 trip for at least 3 years until SSN increase HF prop improves. Look for CY0 later in a few months. Lot of planning to pull that one off. We do have a VE guy on the team and he is always helpful in preplanning for either place.
As Joel says, go chase if you need them anywhere or miss out for quite some time.
