[ADXA] NO is my vote on the ZK3.. Suggest individual OQRS as usual with a semi-semi rare entity.

I am NOT for donation to this ZK3A DXped. Does not meet our ranking rule, and that is in place to capture when many DXers in a club need something. So, it will be simple to work and each ADXA member needing it for some band mode reason or an ATNO (doubt many will), then OQRS will be available for $3 to 4. We need to preserve our donation funds for when many ADXA members will benefit from working an entity on a lot of B/M, new modes etc.

I only need ZK3 on 6m and 60m, and I will gladly pay via OQRS if I work them. And, we can not be sure if a donation from ADXA will result in a “free card” to each member like on the XX9 trip. So my vote is NO and treat it like a DXpedition that did not send us a request at all. And, a biggie is that with THAT many team members, the overall individual operator’s $$ participation is NOT as much as if only 10 operators going on a trip. And this is not a $500,000+ boat trip for their team. They would be foolish to put that much into a boat charter and only going to a low ranking semi-rare DXCC country. As Joel said, many trips in the past decade. Stick to our ranking rule!!

Subject: [ADXA] What's Hottest Right Now - July or DX??

Depends on your perspective!

Its July in Arkansas and its supposed to be hot, although a 110 degree
heat index is a bit extreme. Depending on where you stand on the the DX
ladder there is plenty of DX on the bands as well. I know all of the
propagation forecasts about the next solar cycle are depressing but if
you never turn on your radio and get on the air you will never know
what's available to work!

There are several excellent DXpeditions coming up this fall and winter.
Its too hot at the moment to stress with antenna work outside however
its prime time to be making improvements to the station inside, in the
air conditioning!

At our meeting in June in Hot Springs we discussed DXpedition funding
and agreed when we receive a request we would notify everyone via our
reflector. We won't take any action until our next in-person meeting
after review and recommendation from the Executive Committee however I
do want to let everyone know we have received a request from the ZK3A
Tokelau Island team. Their request is attached. Although it ranks #40
World and #26 in Europe it ranks #92 in North America, outside our
current criteria. There have been recent operations from there in 2010,
2014 and 2015 although not on a scale as large as this planned
operation.

N5LKE and W5VY are working on a "Most Needed" list for ADXA members. In
the meantime you might chime in if you need Tokelau as a new one.
