No ADXA member should be afraid of not working this for an ATNO for DXCC credits. They are on basically all day, all bands and modes, and after being on for several days, the pileups are a lot less on the major bands. So put out a little bit of effort, no excuse to not have this in your log for DXCC awards. Chase some DX!!!
I have some doubts about 3Y0 Bouvet. No regular updates and one must consider who the leader is; need not say more. The operators staying in South Africa and going back and forth to EU seems a bit unusual, since it has been over a 2+ month period. Staying in hotels and using rental cars and buying food, away from families, etc, really adds up. Planning just seems a bit lax and disorganized. In the past, when using ClubLog for QSL confirmations, this team leader has asked $5 for each 5 QSOs confirmed, so if you have 6-10 QSOs to be confirmed, that’s $10 and if 11-15 QSOs, $15 etc.
They mentioned recently about the possible weather situation squeezing them a bit on making it in a timely fashion to Bouvet. Duuuh... Spending way too much time in ZS land doing pretrip chores. Some of what they are doing can be done aboard ship… I think the next two weeks will tell us a lot. Leaving in February is a “no no” with unpredictable weather. Wish them well, for those who need this rare one for an ATNO, and it’s doubtful it will be activated for another decade or so… Ain’t DXing fun? Others have mentioned their doubts and I tend to agree with W5ZN.
