I too have been a victim K5UR's "DX Shaming" :) :)

Same response. Get in there and work harder. Was happy to get V8 on 80. I
ended up working him on CW during the contest. He had very few callers and
good signal. I think everybody had given up. Still chasing XX9D on 80.
They actually are good copy here on some days but can't hear anybody because
of the local noise. Got T31 on 160 this am for new band slot

Subject: [ADXA] The ADXA Weenie Award

A few weeks ago while urging you folks to jump in the V84SAA pileups I made
reference to those that couldn't make a Q would be a candidate for the ADXA
Weenie Award!

A little background is in order.

Once upon a time, not so very long ago before the internet, DX Clusters,
Chat rooms, texting and instant messaging when we all used mail sent via the
USPS I would receive a letter or card from Rick, K5UR. There would always be
some little note written on the envelope. It might be addressed to Joel
"Weenie" Harrison or on the back of the envelope when I would flip it over
to open would have written "your weak!". I got a nice kick out of those
little snippets!

Now, in today's sad environment some might immediately go to Twitter and
claim this to be a form of bullying, that they were highly offended by those
comments, get air time on CNN with sympathy from the TV talking heads and
would then run home to their mama's basement crying.

How did I take it? It was a CHALLENGE and one I took with humor and self
motivation to make sure my station and operating practice was optimized and
efficient enough to KICK HIS BUTT in the next pile up! Thus the motivation
for my declaring an ADXA Weenie Award!! :-))

So, were you a weenie with V84SAA? If you jumped in the pileup and fiercely
fought it out, even if you were NOT successful, you are NOT a weenie. The
V84SAA path and propagation was tough, VERY tough and so is XX9D. Jeff, K1ZM
who was one of the V84SAA ops just wrote a long four part report on the
propagation struggles on their end. If you were in there calling an didn't
make it I know you learned something, or you sat back, grabbed a technical
book and researched what you could have done better and you are implementing
that for the next battle....you are learning. I learn something from EVERY
pileup! (Yes I really do!)

Maybe you turned on your radio and tried very diligently but could not hear
them. You are NOT a weenie because you put forth the effort and will know
what to work on and improve for next time.

So, who are the ADXA Weenies for this DXpedition? Those who didn't even get
on the air and try! The ADXA Weenies are those who stayed in their recliner
in the den and didn't even put forth one iota of effort. So, with credit to
Monday Night Football's "Come on Man!" segment:

COME ON MAN!!!!! GET ON THE AIR AND WORK SOME DX!!!
