Good Weenie notations, Joel. Totally agree.
Just irks me that it is in writing by Dom that 3Y0 QSLs will cost $50 for first QSO to offset not having significant contributions from clubs and foundations. Then each extra QSO will cost a decreasing amount. Luckily I have Bouvet on many band-modes, so with propagation only on 3-4 bands, I doubt I can work them on 40 or 80, and impossible on 160m for me for sure. If heard on 30m or RTTY for an ATNO, I will seriously consider if I will waste my time calling to get a QSL that I will only put in my “band” shoe boxes and pay $50 for that QSO. Only way I would be enticed would be if I got em on 30m RTTY and kill two birds with one stone. With nothing to prove, doubt I would call even then ….
At this point, I do NOT plan on calling the 3Y0 and fighting the huge pileups just so I can pay $50+ or more for confirmations, especially if not needed. I don’t consider myself a Weenie if my inner self does not want to pay $50+ for a simple new one on a low band (160-30m) or RTTY mode. Some things are ethical and some are not. Each DXer has to make a choice. If needed for the major Mixed or CW or Phone DXCCs, then bite the bullet in your teeth and hope it doesn’t go off. HI HI

Subject: [ADXA] The ADXA Weenie Award
A few weeks ago while urging you folks to jump in the V84SAA pileups I
made reference to those that couldn't make a Q would be a candidate for
the ADXA Weenie Award!
So, were you a weenie with V84SAA? If you jumped in the pileup and
fiercely fought it out, even if you were NOT successful, you are NOT a
weenie. The V84SAA path and propagation was tough, VERY tough and so is
XX9D. Jeff, K1ZM who was one of the V84SAA ops just wrote a long four
part report on the propagation struggles on their end. If you were in
there calling an didn't make it I know you learned something, or you sat
back, grabbed a technical book and researched what you could have done
better and you are implementing that for the next battle....you are
learning. I learn something from EVERY pileup! (Yes I really do!)
Maybe you turned on your radio and tried very diligently but could not
hear them. You are NOT a weenie because you put forth the effort and
will know what to work on and improve for next time.
So, who are the ADXA Weenies for this DXpedition? Those who didn't even
get on the air and try! The ADXA Weenies are those who stayed in their
recliner in the den and didn't even put forth one iota of effort. So,
with credit to Monday Night Football's "Come on Man!" segment:
COME ON MAN!!!!! GET ON THE AIR AND WORK SOME DX!!!
