[ADXA] Frustrations on QSOs... About over in 2 more days.

Great Nick!! Welcome to the chase of DXing… Happy that you now realize the feeling of chasing and catching, especially for an ATNO on any band. It is a great feeling to hear the guy coming back to you and then getting the RRR or 73 and TU when you give him a report...

I finally got through yesterday at 8:00 AM local on 40 CW after a number of sessions on various bands over the week. I was about to consider putting up a different antenna and/or dragging out the AL-811 hidden in the closet.

Since moving, my only antenna thus far is an end-fed 134 foot wire for all bands. It seems to work 'OK' but I don't really think it's a DX-killer.

Anyway, it's an all-time, any-band new one for me. Would have liked 80 or 160 but I'll take what I got and be glad of it.

Yes, Dennis .. with the QRN and QSB sometimes, the confirming reply like RR or 73 or TU from the DXped op, goes unheard. Then the pileup drowns you out and the DXped guy does not hear corrections you have sent, like a number change or repeating your call suffix.

A “RRR” from the DXped op ‘implies’ he DID get your call and report all OK.. The problem is poor conditions, weak signals, poor SSN and lids calling immediately after your last dit or dash, and one never hearing the DX operator TU or RR, as I said, from weak, QSB signals.

Well, they will be there 2 more days and then pooof.. The XX9 is even weaker at my QTH. Still my 18mc CW QSO never showed but the K4YY, who does NOT DX, got in the log at the same time I thought I worked them. The next log update confirmed my suspicions. How can 5 dits sound like 4 dits and a dash? Glad a lot of guys got in the log by trying several times.

My experience is the opposite of some...  I had a solid contact on 20 CW 3 days ago and it showed up the next day.  So did a 40M CW contact.  However, I had called him for a few minutes on 40 before giving up because he was getting too weak for reliable copy.  I never heard him come back to me and I never sent a signal report.

This morning I actually worked him on 40 CW.
