Boy do I remember operating from there in 1983! It was VS5 back then, and I made about 5000 QSOs from there and concentrated on 80m at night where I made about 800 QSOs and also worked a few on 160m in the Asia area using a long wire antenna 25 feet off the ground. Met the Sultan one evening at a party and stayed with VS5HG Hassan for 7 days. Attended the first organized meeting of the first VS5 Ham Radio Club the second weekend. Think there were 6 in attendance. Fun time for me and with so many memories.

This is definitely a semi-rare one, especially on 160 and 80m. A good friend of mine is on the team, VK3GK, Lee. Luckily do have RTTY confirmed in the “pre FT8” timeframe.
San VS5YY … hi hi

Subject: [ADXA] V84SAA Brunei

The V84SAA gang has fired up from Brunei. They're still getting things
all running however they are there and running on a couple of bands.
Jeff, K1ZM who will be the lead 160 meter Op and his wife Miriam, KK1ZM,
will be the lead FT8 Op. They departed Boston last night on their way to
V8 via London Heathrow and Singapore and should be there sometime
tomorrow local Brunei time (Sunrise there now Thursday morning as I
write this).

So, grab this one on at least one band if you don't have it at all. This
is a first class group of ops so pay attention to the propagation and
their instructions and put them in your log.

I only need them on 160 meters so will be gunning for them except I have
to be in W6 land next Monday-Thursday so that cuts down my
opportunities.
