[ADXA] Interesting turn of events YEP

Well, maybe when the QRO FT8 guys have all DXCC band modes they need for their FT8/digital DXCC count, working stations that are well into the +dB audio range (with lot of audio distortion), then they will find pileups greater on SSB (using a mike) and CW (using a key) in future years. Hmmm. Most of us will remember SSB, CW and higher audio digi modes (RTTY, PSK)…
The lower audio -20 to -5 dB FT8 guys will still be available to be proud of working sub-audible signals when CW and SSB are not heard and accomplishing something that FT8/FT4 modes were designed for initially. 😊
Overall, I think we need younger people in ham radio and showing them how much more fun this hobby is than playing video games on the internet. The impetus would require we promote all modes and the ability to work DX in pileups, knowing when, where and how to call…. and they can also learn electronics, Emergency Net participation, Repeater use, antenna construction ideas, have local morning coffee chats with friends, do contesting and try roving fun, or just having a simple, longer QSO with someone somewhere on various bands, learning about propagation, etc. There is always something to find interesting in our hobby. If younger people do not get involved, I fear what the outcome will be in another 10 years. Lets have faith in our ARRL in finding solutions to support our hobby’s survival.
Happy New Year 2020 to all ADXA DX chasing guys and gals. Lets hope 3Y0 and P5 will be on the air sometime in the future. ( : - )

That was due to something called "FT8 Heavyweights". It was an operation thought up by 9Z4Y to promote more DX on FT8. I finally had to google it to find out what was going on!

I just noticed this morning that it appears 14.074 FT8 has gotten so congested that a lot of "DX hunters" have moved up to 14.090. It looks to me like a great many of them are QRO. There is some good DX there this morning that is NOT on 14.074.
