Hopefully I will have two cards to put on the ARRL’s Online DXCC that will have to be check afterwards. That is another service that the ARRL has made to make life with the card checkers easier and more accurate! 73 de jay/w5jay.. Over the years I kept trying different things like emailing another card with return mailers, sending un-answer emails, etc. No luck with those and the cards I sent over the years could have been pilfered through getting using the old cut the corner off and go fishing with a large bobby pin. I had more than one card destroyed that way. The way I stuff the envelopes that is the only way they are going to get the USDs. I got an idea off of Rory that I hadn’t tried before, but a few of you mentioned this as well. Not sure why I didn’t think of it before? Try to contact some hams around his last know location and maybe someone local to him or a club member might know him that is willing to get in touch with him. BTW, his home call was PY1UP and so I emailed a person nearest his last location on QRZ.com and then went fishing on HamGrid maps. That special person is PY1BC, Gilberto and turns out they are best friends. According to Gilberto they talk once a day, talk about lucking out! He put me in contact with Joao PY1UP the next day, asking how he could be of service to me! I told him of my DXCC Quest for ATNO. That was yesterday. Today I get two more emails. One email with a jpg showing I am “IN” the log under my old call of KA5DGH. These are all paper logs with over 25 thousand QSOs. Think about this, even with good data that is a lot of log sheets to turn over looking for a single QSO. So for him to take the time to look me up was super nice/cool. Then he asks me for a good mailing address. Then I get a second email showing me the confirmed card made out. I am so shocked, stunned, but super excited. This is only one of two ATN QSOs I don’t have a confirmations for, yet. Looks like both will be cards coming in or hopefully so in the near future. Over the emails I asked Joao how I could repay his kindness and reimburse his costs for the QSL. He hasn’t said anything so far, just asks for my good mailing address! I have done the same type of thing over the years and looks like my kindness is being rewarded back to me. Pay forward? Looks like the true Ham Radio sprit is not dead!! Anyway I have a few confirmations like these that make the whole DXCC journey so interesting and wanted to share the ongoing saga of the lost contact from 20 plus years ago! So this one, Monk Apollo’s card, and the P5 card are great memories for me! Each one has a story and is unique, IMHO. Never give up and don’t stop asking for help when you need it. 73 de jay/w5jay..______________________________________________________________ADXA mailing listHome: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/adxaHelp: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htmPost: mailto:ADXA at mailman.qth.netThis list hosted by: http://www.qsl.netPlease help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
