Interesting info on % of FT(8 or 4 or both) vs RTTY on DXpeditions dating back last 5 months. About 20 DXpeditions are included here. RULES:
(1) Does NOT include stations logs going back and combining QSO data for 2 or more trips all put into ONE statistical log, like CY9 that had no FT8 on past trips
(2) Stations had to operate at least one digital mode but could be 2-3 digital modes
(3) Stations not operating digital at all are NOT included, naturally
(4) In a nutshell, must be one DXped during recent dates only and that used a digital mode during that trip
FT8 100% = Z68HC, 9Y4, ZF (FT was only mode whole trip), S9, 3D2, E31, TO19, Z66Z, VI9N, XR0, HD8, 3B8, 9G, XV9 ….
FT8 % = 6Y 98%, V6 82%, E6 86%, 5V7 90%, 7P8 96%
Boy, the RTTY guys have a hard time chasing with this data, and it’s an increasing trend. Understand, IF signals are in a very – dB range and with horrible QRN conditions. But RTTY and CW do well if in the -10to 0dB range due to their narrow passband capabilities and for sure above 0 dB signals. Maybe the DXped does not have a way to readout RTTY (basic new rigs do, with a built in screen) and they only use a software defined method/program of doing the complicated multi-varied FT modes. FT4 is the next big change, then FT2 I guess; then in 10 more years using the Ancient Alien invisible/inaudible mentation method. Hmmm That would not require F2, meteors or E skip or tropo or trans-equatorial or Aurora or aircraft reflection or ? No need for expensive ham radio equipment, just one weird complicated alien logging program that the ARRL DXCC desk would accept.
Now for some good updates on today’s DX activity. . . . . .
