[ADXA] CQWW DX Contest - Phone

In just two weeks the first "Big One" of the DX contest season fires up 
with the CQ World Wide DX Contest on SSB. If you're not a CW person then 
this is the one for you to jump in and grab some DX you need. There will 
be TONS on DX stations....some of the BIG GUN stations that can hear you 
even if you only have a dipole or vertical. It starts at 0000 UTC 
October 27. That is 7:00 PM local time Friday evening October 26 and it 
runs until 2359 UTC Sunday October 28 (6:59 PM local Sunday).

The contest exchange is signal report and CQ Zone. For those of us in 
Arkansas your CQ Zone is 4, so the report you will send after the 
station responds to your call will be simply Five Nine Four (59 4). 
Oh.....what if the station is NOT 59?? Don't worry about it and get over 
it.....send 59 as the report. The critical information they are judged 
on is that they correctly copy the zone #.

As I noted before, just about all  of these stations will upload their 
logs to LoTW so QSL'ing is very easy.

What do mean you don't have an antenna up right now????????? You have 
two weeks to throw up a simple dipole in the trees or whatever you have 
out in the yard. We've talked about this many times on this reflector 
and at our meetings. Simply run it north and south so your maximum 
signal projects east & west. That will cover a broad azimuth.

So, you now have NO excuse. There is nothing on TV to watch and I know 
you're tired of all of the political ads (they'll get worse in the next 
two weeks!) so throwing up an effective dipole should not take over an 
hour or two. Don't have any wire?? Go to Lowe's or Home Depot. Can't 
afford any wire? Drop me a note.

There WILL be DX stations on the air that you need.....get on the air 
and WORK THEM!!!
