That is great.
Many major DXpeditions will wait 4-6 months “by agreement’ with ARRL/DXCC “onlookers” to say they are confirming QSOs. But, the impetus of that is to get more income from donors who want their QSLs SOONER and by an actual paper card and for those who do not do LoTW.
I can appreciate any DXpedition leaders who are not into “money making” per se and realize that each DXpedition operator should be committed to paying at least 50% of total team costs up front, and perhaps then hope donations will lessen that to about 25% DXped operator “out of pocket” expense for the privilege of going on a trip.
Note that most expensive DXpedition operators are older hams, mostly retired and with some ham radio money available for their “hobby activities”. Their wives are OK with the BIG expenses because it keeps DXpedition ops out of pool halls, off golf courses and away from bars 3-4 days a week… or more. HI
My wife has always liked knowing where I am at night, mainly in the ham shack … DX chasing or monitoring DX Summit or answering emails. Unstated by wives, they do like knowing where we are, and this goes for all DX chasing ham operators day and night!! I quit golfing years ago (a 4 handicap) and never go to pool halls and seldom drink unless at an ADXA social gathering.
