[ADXA] 1st Quarterly Meeting Update

I enjoyed seeing everyone Saturday in Russellville at our 1st Quarterly
Meeting of 2018. We had excellent attendance at our forum and our meeting.
Thanks to everyone for attending. It is especially refreshing to have the
support and attendance of our ARRL Delta Division Director K5UZ, Delta
Division Vice Director WB4RHQ and Arkansas Section Manager N5LKE

Some of you have asked for a copy of my forum presentation in order to
have the internet links I mentioned. It is attached.

During our business meeting we took action on three items. First, the
Executive Committee presented a proposal that was approved to fund the 3B7
St. Brandon DXPedition for $100.

The next two items were proposals from the Executive Committee to revise
our Articles of Association pertaining to honorary members. We currently
have two levels of honorary membership, an "Honorary Life Membership" and
an "Honorary Membership".

Honorary Life Membership is detailed in Article 3 (d.) and allows for any
active member 75 years of age and having 15 years of previous paid
membership to be considered for this. The last sentence of this Article
prevented an Honorary Life Member from having the rights and/or benefits
of a full or associate member. The Executive Committee believed, and the
members present unanimously agreed, that this sentence penalized a person
who has been very active in ADXA, has paid a minimum of 15 years dues to
ADXA and is an asset to the organization. The motion presented from the
EC, and unanimously approved by the membership present, deletes the last
sentence of Article 3 (d.) therefore allowing an Honorary Life Member to
have full membership rights.

Honorary Membership is detailed in Article 3 (e.) and limits an Honorary
Member to just one year. The Executive believed there may be situations
arise where we want to bestow an Honorary Membership for more than one
year, or reconsider an Honorary Members term each year and therefore
proposed to eliminate the words "....for one (1) year...." from Article 3
(e.). The motion was unanimously approved.

Prior to our meeting I sent an email to this reflector asking that we
discuss a prorated dues structure for new, first time members who may have
an interest DX and a desire to join ADXA mid-year or later. I did not have
a specific proposal, it was just brought up for discussion. It was pointed
out at the meeting that the President (me) should maybe read the Articles
of Association more frequently :-)) as such a provision already exists in
the last sentence of Article 5! It was clarified that this prorated
membership fee would be $6 per quarter.

and I look forward to our 2nd Quarter Meeting in June in the Fort Smith
area.
