Quinn LaFargue was a friend way back in the late 1950s and thru the 60s and lives in DeWitt. Our mutual friends were W5TIZ Dick and W5HJA who formed the ADXA in 1967 and Ed “Hoss Trader” Moory who had his ham radio dealership in Dewitt for decades. Quinn still lives alone with some health assistance on occasion. I suggested to George that anyone who comes to see the equipment to bring a variac and slowly bring up the amplifiers to at least see if the tubes are reasonably OK and that the output is at least 400 watts and that the power supply’s transformers are OK with good voltages, etc.

Remember in those days RF amps were designed for a KW “input” and about 700w output unless you stretched them a bit whereas today they are rated at a KW “output”.. I loved the old Viking KW and had a couple of the FT2100Bs in the 70s before the Alphas came out in a roaring fashion. The FT2100B is still a nice amp and small footprint on the table.
TU Frank and Chester for the info!
