Jonathan:
Great you were in the log. Often the DXpedition creates the “doubt” because they either have poor internet connections or none at all (ugggh) and then one wonders and many make unnecessary 2nd QSOs for “good measure”. That can knock some small, low power stations to not get in log for an ATNO, since the pileups remain larger than they should be, UNTIL the ClubLog update appears. Seeing 2-3 QSOs on the same band/mode for MANY prominent DXers is all too frequent. They just need to check ClubLog more often.
Now, TOO MANY large, rare or semi-rare DXpeditions may go 2-3 DAYS before updating ClubLog, and that complicates things a lot! A simple solution, to avoid what you went through, is to update the logs AT LEAST once per day or perhaps every 12 hours. That avoids you calling a second time unless the log shows you are not there. The “fear” you shared is so common to thousands of DXers, especially if for an ATNO and the trip is nearing the end. You did things the right way, considering ClubLog was not forthcoming in a timely matter on log updates.
Go back YEARS ago when there was no internet. You hope you got ‘em, sent IRCs and SAE and HOPED weeks later you got a card instead of a returned card saying “not in log”.. Those were the good ole days. HI HI

N5QJ here. I have a KH1/KH7Z and OQRS story to tell.
I thought I worked KH1/ on 20 meters, but it was a weak and scratchy QSO. I fretted about it a couple of days. I thought about making a 2nd "insurance" contact.
But, I hate when "those guys" work the same DXpedition on the same band/mode multiple times.
Finally I decided I did not want to take a chance on having to wait TEN more years for KH1, so I worked them again anyway. Good signals that time.
Still, I felt guilty until Yesterday.
GUESS WHAT? Yesterday I went to confirm my contacts. That first contact was NOT in their log. The second one, was the ONLY one on 20 meters!
Another treat was OQRS said that because of my advance donation my QSL card was free. That's Classy.
This Morning's treat is KH1/KH7Z is in my LOTW "recent QSL's" already.
After all those years of IRC's, SASE's, GreenStamps, Airmail Postage, and waiting by the mailbox,,,, this is how I want to QSL.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
