The first half of 2018 is history, and soon the KH1/KH7Z DXPedition to
Baker Island will be as well. You need to be in their log if you aren't
already! You won't have another chance, most likely, for 20 years or more.

I have been away on business and did not return until late Saturday. I
needed Baker on 160 meters and was pleased to be able to nab them.

We had a very good meeting on June 16 in Fort Smith. I want to thank Bill,
W5SJ for taking care of the arrangements and also for his gracious open
house following the meeting. Very nice shack, Bill !!

We had two very nice presentations at the meeting. Thanks to ADXA member
Stan, K5VR for his presentation on "Lightning!" and also to Big Gun Ron,
K5XK for arranging to have Joda, KM5FY attend and speak to us about his
work and operation from Kuwait, 9K2. A very good set of presentations!

I want to welcome new DXCC and ADXA member Mark Whatley, K5XH. Welcome Mark!

So, what was the BIG NEWS at our meeting? At our March meeting and again
at the June meeting ADXA members have unanimously approved the holding of
another ADXA Annual Convention in Little Rock as we did last year. This
year's date is Saturday December 1 and the same venue, Riverfront Hilton,
in North Little. That's news, but it is not the BIG NEWS! The BIG NEWS is
we have an excellent guest who will attend. Frank Donovan, W3LPL!!!!!
Frank is a subject matter expert on antennas and propagation and is the
owner and chief engineer/operator and one of the top multi-op contest
stations in the world. Make your plans now and mark your calendar.

You do NOT want to miss this year's convention! We will have a hospitality
suite open on Friday evening and a block of rooms available for those who
would like to come down Friday and Saturday spend the night. Our meeting
will begin at 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM with a luncheon as last year. We will
also have presentations from Bill Kennamer, K5FUV. Bill is a foremost
authority on DXCC and was the DXCC Manager at ARRL HQ for several years.
He has also operated from several DX countries and DXPeditions.

Full details of the December meeting will be forthcoming however do not
forget we have our third quarterly meeting in September.

Thanks again to everyone who attended and made our second quarterly
meeting productive and successful. It was great to see everyone!
