Subject: [ADXA] Member Standings update for K5UR
Rick, K5UR, has provided updated standings info. He continues to squeeze the last drop out of the bands! He is now at 3163 band/entities for the DXCC Challenge competition. That puts Rick in the top 20 World Wide. His accomplishment is even more impressive when you consider how much time he has devoted over the years serving in leadership roles at the ARRL. At this point he has to spin the dial many, many turns to find a new band/entity to add to his list....there are only 340 entities and 10 bands!
Europeans dominate the top of the Challenge list. EA8AK is on top of the listings as of today with 3264. The nearest North American is W4DR at 3183. I think part of the reason is 6M entities confirmed. LZ2CC is currently on top of the 6M standings with 280 confirmed. EA8AK, the Challenge leader, has 242 on 6M and the closest North American stations are K2ZD and W7GJ at 204. I don't know if the big difference is due to geography or if the EU stations are doing more EME on 6? I do know that due to the structure of upper level jet streams the EU continent does get more frequent and more intense sporadic E propagation than we do. K5UR is at 154 on 6M and I think all Rick's counters are terrestrial and maybe all CW/SSB?
Current propagation predictions for the next cycle don't look good for F2 6M activity. FT8 has revealed weak but usable multi-hop 6M Sporadic E links across the Atlantic and Pacific.
73 es Ho Ho Ho,
Pat, W5VY
