Glenn.
You will do well, I am sure. My oldest grandson (age 23) had mitral valve
replacement at age 6 months, aortic valve replacement at age 5 and then
atrial septal /PDA defect repairs at age 10-11 with a pig valve substitute
since the other was too small for an older person. Up until about age 12 or
14, you have to consider heart growth and if the heart has reached to near
adult capacity.. With us adults, some surgeries are a bit more predictable
and that is good. My grandson also had subaortic stenosis and still does. He
was not allowed to play contact football in high school but amazingly he got
his 3rd degree black belt on one of the martial arts and got kicked in the
chest MANY times, and hard..... LOL
Again, you will do well and hope for less dyspnea and better oxygen
saturation and better sleep habits.. Let us know which hospital you will be
in and what room # after your get out of post operative intensive care.n We
will work the DX and be thinking of you! HI

All

Looks like I'm first up come Monday. I'm scheduled to arrive at hospital at
530AM with the surgery to begin around 8 AM. They will be
repairing/replacing my mitral valve. It's a 2 hour surgery. The surgery
will be performed at AR Heart Hospital.
