Bernie, W3UR, of "The Daily DX" and "The Weekly DX" has been notified by
the VP8STI Team that they have arrived at South Sandwich. It is daylight
there now and they are beginning to offload equipment and supplies to
establish their camp and begin erecting antennas. They expect to be on the
air, to some extent, later today.

This will get a little wild on the bands with K5P still in full swing and
VP8 firing up so please pay attention to who you may be trying to work and
don't just rely on a cluster spot!!

The VP8 group has published their operating frequency band plan on their
web site. K5P has not, intentionally, to be able to move around and avoid
VP8. The Palmyra guys have the luxury of internet access and can check
spots, etc. to move as necessary and spot their freq.

To make the challenge a bit more intense Ken, K4ZW, has arrived in Laos
and fired up yesterday as XW4ZW. Ken's op is focussed on 160 and 80
meters. Listen for Ken on a skewed path in the mornings to the S - SW
along the gray line. Some of the east coast guys heard him on 80 last
night to the S - SE during sunset. His sunset is around 1100z.

K5P and VP8 are scheduled to be on until January 25. Don't miss these as
you most likely won't have this opportunity again, if at all, for another
15 years or more.
