Harry, JD1BMH is packing up and getting ready for his 25 hour boat ride
back to Japan. He was on this morning but signals were WAY down from the
previous 3 mornings so he was not very strong here this morning.
HL5IVL and BU2AQ continue to show up most mornings. They also will hit 80
meters if 160 conditions are not good.
Ken, K4ZW is heading to Laos in a couple of days for a low band op. as
XW4ZW. I'll update everyone as Ken checks in on the ON4KST Low Band Chat.
Remember Palmyra Atoll will be active next week. Craig, K9CT and crew are
on their way to Hawaii to connect with the boat that will take them to
Palmyra. Callsign will be K5P. FYI for our new DXCC members this will
appear on your DXCC list as a "KH5 Palmyra & Jarvis Islands" prefix. This
will most likely, due to access restrictions by the U.S. Gov't, be the
only operation for another 10 to 15 years, maybe even longer so plan your
schedule to get this on in your log. I need it on 160 meters so will be in
that pile slugging it out after I return from a business trip Thursday
evening.
For the memory enhancement of you old dog DX'ers and historical education
of our newer members, attached is a pdf the QSL card from my first Palmyra
contact in 1977. Imagine lugging 2 Drake C lines and a couple of SB200's
for equipment on today's 9 or 10 band DXpedition!!!!
