I read with interest Joel's comments on this subject. It certainly provokes
lots
of conversation - pro and con (mostly con from serious DXer's I think -
especially those into DX Challenge).
I stuck my head into the DX forum room at Visalia for just a few minutes and
this was the topic being discussed. Lots of discussions - again, pro and
con.
I didn't stick around long enough to get a true feel of the discussion.
At the dinner, I was seated at a table with a guy - I don't remember his
call - who
actually has a remote station in Washington state that can be "rented." I
wish
I had been smart enough to ask a few leading questions. Other topics at the
table held my interest more. But I do remember him saying he was surprised
at the
amount of "bookings" the station gets. Apparently it's quite a good
location and
set-up for working DX. He pulled out his phone and (with some kind of new
app I guess) brought his station up on the air in a couple of minutes.
Pretty amazing.
Being technically challenged, I only question I asked was if he could work
cw on
the phone - "Of course!" Hi.
More on Visalia later..... Since I was the only ADXA guy there, I will give
some
feedback when I get caught up.... 73 Rick AI5P
