The DFW Contest Group (DFWCG) announces the 2013 DFW Contest Forum held June
7, 2013 in conjunction with Ham Com, a regional Hamfest drawing participants
from Texas and surrounding states, held at the Plano Center, in Plano Texas
on both June 7 and 8. The DFWCG conducts this forum for the benefit of
amateur radio operators interested in contest operation. Estimates of
attendance vary from 150 to 200. Ham Com charges $8 for general admission
tickets ($6 for each additional family member). The DFWCG charges an
additional $20 for tickets to the luncheon, but the balance of forum
activities are free of charge. The DFWCG is currently soliciting door prizes
for this event. A list of door prizes and donors will be posted on the
DFWCG web site, http://www.dfwcontest.com as they become available. Door
prizes will be awarded through ticket drawings.
The forum activities end with a cash bar happy hour sponsored jointly with
the Lone Star DX Association followed closely by the W5DXCC dinner.

The DFW Contest Group announces the 2013 DFW Contest Forum to be held on
Friday, June 7 in conjunction with Ham Com at the Plano Center in Plano,
Texas.
The DFW Contest Forum kicks off with a light luncheon and special guest
speaker Doug Grant, K1DG, followed by four hours of presentations on
contesting. Presentations during the Contest Forum will cover topics from
the beginner to advanced contest topics;

Cost for the Luncheon is $20 and includes admission to the presentation with
special guest Doug Grant, K1DG as well as a Deli Sandwich with condiments,
potato salad, deli chips, cookie, soft drink and mint. Admission price also
gives you a chance to win one of our several door prizes. A list of door
prizes will be provided on our website as they become available. Seats are
limited to 200. Tickets must be purchased in advance from the DFW Contest

Contest Luncheon Special Guest, Doug Grant, K1DG
Doug has been licensed since 1967. Over the years, he has managed to collect
plaques for first-place scores in single-op, single-op-assisted,
multi-single, multi-2 and multi-multi categories from his own station and
numerous host stations. In addition, he was a competitor in 5 WRTC events,
winning one gold and two bronze medals. He is past president of the Yankee
Clipper Contest Club, past member and Chairman of the ARRL Contest Advisory
Committee, member of the CQWW Contest Committee and has chaired the Dayton
Hamvention Contest Forum for over 10 years. Along with being a "professor"
at Contest University he is also Director of Contest University and the
World Wide Radio Operators Foundation, and Chairman of the WRTC2014
Organizing Committee.
