Fellow LSDXA members and Ham Com attendees:

The Begali Sculpture Key http://www.i2rtf.com/
arrived today by registered mail under armed guard, or
I'm not sure if our USPS carrier at least had a can of
pepper spray. My XYL Cheryl (WY5H) is pawing over it
now and I may not be able to pry it from her hands.
Last thing I heard her say was "its a beauty" and she
wasn't referring to me hi hi.

This key is like no other I've seen. All stainless
steel and polished, like buying a Rolls Royce, a well
oiled machine. Talk about heavy. Even with the fist
I have that moves most keyers all over the table, I
don't think this one is going anywhere, execpt to the
winner of the Lone Star DX Association's "QLF--QSO by
Left Foot Competition" on Friday afternoon June
13--the infamous Friday the 13th.

The winner will be announced at the LSDXA DX Dinner on
Friday night so be there if you "think" you've won the
code copying competition. I'll also have it at the
LSDXA's Hospitality Room after the dinner if it wasn't
claimed at the dinner. Otherwise we'll hold it at the
LSDXA booth, or I'll be carrying it in a locked box
around the Ham Com convention and you'll just have to
find me.

There will also be a second place straight key prize
and other CW related prizes.

To order tickets for the DX dinner to to
http://www.hamcom.org and click on DX dinner. Tickets
are $36. We will have an excellent DX program from
Eric Scace, K3NA, a member of the recent Ducie Island
DXpedition (Cheryl and I saw it at Visalia and loved
the program), a great dinner, fun, fellowship, and
lots of door prizes. We may even have another "DX Hogg
Hat" presentation.

Many, many thanks go to Pietro Begali I2RTF and his
daughter Bruna (who will soon have her own Italian ham
license) for the donation. http://www.i2rtf.com/ to
see a complete list of the keyers and straight keys
they manufacture. They will be at the Dayton
Hamvention next weekend in booths 466-473 in the Ball
Arena.

Further details on how to sign up for the code
competition will be announced. As the noted
commentator Paul Harvey said at the beginning of all
of his newscasts "Stand By for News."

73 de Tom, WW5L
LSDXA Vice-President and Information Director and 2008
DX Dinner and DX Programs door prize guru.
