The United Nations Staff Recreation Council Amateur Radio Club (4U1UN) at
the United Nations building in New York City will be using special call
4U50SPACE in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Sputnik launch.  The
special call can be used during Space Week, from October 4th to 10th.

Today look for 4U50SPACE (that is Four United Five Zero SPACE) to be QRV
after about 2100Z for about 3-4 hours.  The Daily DX has been notified that
N2UN, Tony, and LA5IIA, Johnny, will be at the station and active on various
bands today.  No word yet on other possible days of operation for this
unique call.  Special QSLs will be available via the 4U1UN QSL manager
HB9BOU.
