5Z      - Alessandro, IK4ALM will be active as  5Z4/IK4ALM from Kenya  between
           30 March and 10 April. He  plans to operate  holiday style with  100
           watts and a ground plane on SSB. QSL via home call.
6W      - Pete, SM5GMZ will be active from  Senegal on 2-12 April. He will  be
           active on  all bands  and modes,  with an  emphasis  on 80  and  160

F       - Jean-Marc, F5SGI  will  be  active  as  F5SGI/p  from  Groix  Island
           (EU-048) on 7-13 April. He will  operate mostly CW on 80-10  metres.

G       - John, M0XIG  and  John, G4POF  will  operate special  event  station
           GB2BST on 6-9  April from Bramshaw,  to mark  the 200th  anniversary
           since the  optical  telegraph  first  operated  at  this  site.  The
           Bramshaw Shutter Telegraph was one  of a number  that operated as  a
           communication link for  the Admiralty between  London and  Plymouth.

I       - Matteo, IZ3HER  will operate  as  IZ3HER/p from  Sant'Ariano  Island
           (EU-131, IIA  VE-039) on  31 March.  Expect activity  on 20  and  40

I       - Special event  station  IU8SF  will  be  aired  at  different  times
           beteween 2 April and 14 May  for the 500th anniversary of the  death
           of Saint Francis of Paola, the patron saint of boatmen, mariners and

I       - Representing coast radio station Genova Radio (callsign ICB),  INORC
           members I1ZB, IK1QBT,  I1NVU, IZ1GAR,  IK1AUS,  and IK1FXX will   be
           active  as  II1ICB on 14-15  April for the  Radio Maritime Day  (see

JA      - Look for 7L3ATQ/1 to  be active on  the HF bands  and 6 metres  from
           Hachijo Island (AS-043, JIIA  AS-043-003) on 31  March and 1  April.

JA      - Special event  station 8N3IAAF  will be  active from  1 April  to  9
           September  to  celebrate  the  11th  IAAF  World  Championships   in
           Athletics that  will be  held  in Osaka  from  25 August  through  2

KH8_si  - Latest reports indicated that the N8S  DXpedition to Swains  Islands
           will begin on 3  April, one day  earlier than previously  announced.
           The current roster includes seventeen operators: Hranislav Milosevic
           (YT1AD, Team Leader), David Collingham (K3LP, Co-Leader),  Krassimir
           D Petkov (K1LZ), Doug Faunt (N6TQS),  Eugene Kuleshov (RK3AD),  Igor
           Booklan (RA3AUU), Vangelis  Gekas (SV2BFN),  Alan Eshleman  (K6SRZ),
           Maden Bogdanov  (YU7NU),  Stevan Stepanov  (YZ7AA),  Velimir  Djeric
           (YZ1BX), Roman Tkacenko  (UR0MC), Aleksej  Romanov (UA4HOX),  Viktor
           Vasiljenko (RU4SU), Miki Markovic (YU1AU), Chuck Chadraawal  (JT1CO)

LU      - The Radio Club  Ushuaia (LU8XW)  will be  active as  AY7X from  Isla
           Redonda (SA-049) from 22 UTC on  30 March until 12  UTC on 2  April.

OK      - Special event station OL32OLP will be aired by former radio officers
           OK1DNJ, OK1DX, OK1FCA and  OK1FCJ on 1-30  April. It will  represent
           former HF  coast  radio station  Praharadio  (callsign  OLP),  which
           operated from 1975  until 2000. QSL  via OK1DRQ,  direct or  bureau.

ON      - Special event  call  ON50EU  will be  aired  until  31  December  to
           celebrate the 50th anniversary of the  Treaty of Rome (signed on  25
           March 1957 by France, West Germany, Italy, Belgium, the  Netherlands
           and Luxembourg,  it established  the  European Community).  QSL  via
           bureau or direct to ON7YX. [TNX ON7YX]
TA      - John, DJ6JH will operate  holiday style from  Turkey on 7-13  April.
           Expect him to be active as TA4/DJ6JH mainly on 10-20 metres RTTY and

TI      - TI1DX will be aired from  Cerro de la  Muerte (Costa Rica's  highest
           mountain, 3,000 metres a.s.l.) on 2-7 April. Expect activity on 80-6

V3      - Glen, W5IF is currently active as  V31IF from Belize until 4  April.
           He operates on 160-10 metres SSB,  CW and RTTY.  QSL via W5IF.  [TNX

V6      - IT9YRE (V63RE), I1SNW (V63NW) and K9AJ  (V63J) have finalized  their
           plans as follows (local times):
            1 April  depart Yap (OC-012) around 17.00
            2 April  arrive Ngulu (OC-180), land after sunrise
            3 April  depart OC-180 around 13.00
            4 April  arrive Sorol (OC-277) around 13.30
            7 April  depart OC-277 around 17.00
            8 April  arrive Yap around 14.30
           11 April  charter flight to Woleai (OC-132)
           14 April  charter flight back to Yap
           Expect activity from OC-180 between the late UTC evening on 1  April
           through 2 April,  and from OC-227  between the  early morning  hours
           (UTC) on 4 April and the early  morning hours (UTC) on the 7th.  QSL
           via home calls.
V6      - Kei, JK1QLR operated as P29KN from Loloata (OC-240) in the past  few
           days. His next  activity will be  on 20-22  April, when  he will  be
           signing V63LR from Ulithi Atoll (OC-078); after 23 April he will  be
           active from Yap Island (OC-012), Micronesia. QSL via JK1QLR.
YU      - Special event callsign YU07HST will be aired from Serbia through the
           end of the year for the  7th IARU World  Championship in High  Speed
           Telegraphy (HST) that will  be held in  Belgrade on 19-23  September

DX MEETING --->  The fourth DX  Meeting organized  by the  west Ligurian  ARI
Radio Clubs,  will take  place in  Imperia (north  west Italy)  on   19  May.

DXCC NEWS ---> Effective immediately, the  10-year rule has been dropped  and
DXCC card checkers have been authorized  to check cards for current  entities
only, dating back to 15 November 1945. Card checkers still are not allowed to
verify cards  for  160-metre contacts,  nor  cards confirming  contacts  with
deleted entities. In addition, DXCC card checkers now may check  applications
for Worked All States Award (WAS)  and VHF/UHF Century Club Award (VUCC),  if

RADIO MARITIME DAY  ---> On  14-15 April  (from 12  UTC to  12 UTC)  merchant
marine radio officers from several countries  will be active on the HF  bands
(160, 80, 40, 20, 15 and  10 metres CW) to meet  amateur radio operators  for
the Radio Maritime  Day special event.  Further information can  be found  at
