FYI !!
--------------------
Tickets for the June 9 W5DXCC DX dinner are going faster than a 3Y0X or K7C CW QSO.
If you haven't already ordered your ticket(s),you may be out of luck if you
wait much longer than this weekend, LSDXA and Ham Com officials announced today
(Wednesday). While not announcing number of tickets sold so far, Ham Com's
Barry Goldblatt, WA5KXX and Mike Thomas, NA5U,president of the dinner sponsor
Lone Star DX Association, said if Ham Com DXers wait much longer they may miss
out on a jam packed and fun filled DX dinner on June 9. They stressed tickets
WILL NOT be sold at the door.
The dinner speaker will be Bob Allphin, K4UEE, leader of the recent 3Y0X
DXpedition to Peter I Island.
In keeping with the "southern style" Texas cuisine, and the remoteness of Peter
I Island, the menu for the DX dinner will be a Tex-Mex affair featuring grilled
breast of Emperor Penguin, on a bed of Antarctic chili sauce with a Puffin
topping layered with Krill rice. This will be surrounded by two walrus tusk
enchiladas and Antarctic Tern Buffalo wings. On the side will be Orca onion
sour cream with refried Sea Stars and Blue Whale de Gallo sauce to warm
everyone up.
"There won't be any bull on this menu," said Thomas.
Along with the venue and schedule change of Ham-Com to Plano TX, this year's
W5DXCC will have some changes as well. The main event will be a dinner affair
at the Southfork Hotel near the Plano Convention Center on Friday evening, June
9, 2006. Tickets are $35.00 each and can only be purchased online via the
Ham-Com website. Only 125 tickets will be available so order NOW!
To order tickets or read about additional DX program information go to the Ham
Com web site at http://www.hamcom.org
There will be additional DX events on Friday and Saturday at the convention
center (see schedule posted below).
