2005 DX SOUND CLIPS. Tom, K8CX, informs OPDX that there are 120 DX sound
clips from the year 2005 available on the K8CX Ham Gallery Web page at:
                   http://hamgallery.com/dx2005/

3Y0X NEWS..................
The 3Y0X DXpedition team's co-leader Bob, K4UEE, informed OPDX that there
is a nifty article in the Orlando Sentinel about the upcoming Peter I
DXpedition. Please visit the following link at:

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/entertainment/orl-antarctic06jan04,0,2212372.story
Please also visit www.peterone.com often to see updates and to please
consider a financial contribution toward the teams expenses. Bob hopes
to have another press release out by Monday, January 9th.

PRESENTATION AVAILABLE. Bob Schenck, N2OO/9M6OO, informs OPDX that back
in late November, while at the Asia-Pacific DX Convention in Japan, Bob
Allphin, K4UEE, gave a presentation on the planning of the upcoming Peter
One - 3Y0X DXpedition. This presentation, video by Mac, JA3USA, can be
viewed on the Peter One Web site [www.peterone.com] via streaming video.
While this is perfectly adequate for personal viewing, Bob thought it
would be nice to get a better quality DVD of this presentation and make
it available for amateur radio club meeting programs. With K4UEE's
permission, JA3USA's assistance, and SJDXA's help with copying them, Bob
has put together a limited number of DVD copies available for CLUB meeting
program use. If there are any clubs interested in getting a copy of this
DVD, please drop an E-mail to him at: n2oo at arrl.net
There will be a modest charge to help cover postage and expenses. Please,
this is for clubs only. Individuals can view this video on the Peter One
   Web site.

CQ NEWS (K9EL to Direct "CQ DX Marathon"). The following are excerpts from
a press release sent out by Rich Moseson, W2VU, Editor, CQ Amateur Radio:
JOHN SWEENEY, K9EL, TO DIRECT "CQ DX MARATHON" (Hicksville, New York -
January 5, 2006) - CQ magazine Editor Rich Moseson, W2VU, today announced
the appointment of John Sweeney, K9EL, of Schaumburg, Illinois, as Manager
of the new CQ DX Marathon program. The Marathon is part of CQ's three-
pronged "Waking Up DXing" program announced in the magazine last year. The
year-long DXing competition began on January 1.
John is an accomplished DXer, with some 30 years of experience both in
chasing DX and being DX, operating from a variety of rare locations during
the course of a nearly 30-year career with Motorola. He is now a tele-
communications consultant. He has worked more than 300 countries on each
of the major HF ham bands except 80 and 160 meters, and he's closing in on
80, with 280 confirmed. He needs only North Korea on CW to have "worked
them all" on both phone and CW.
"We are very pleased to have K9EL at the helm of the Marathon program,"
said Moseson, "and we are very confident that he will get it off to a solid
start, both in terms of logistics and promotion."
"I am very excited to have the opportunity to participate in this program
and I look forward to working with the DX community," added Sweeney. "CQ
has given me so much over the years. Here is my chance to give something
  back."
The CQ DX Marathon is a cross between an award and a contest. It runs
for a full year at a time, with competitors trying to contact as many
countries and CQ zones as possible within the year. There are no carryovers
from year to year, however, and everyone starts fresh each New Year's Day.
The original CQ DX Marathon was run in 1947, as an effort to promote
DXing activity as ham radio came back to life after World War II. After one
year, the program "morphed" into the highly successful CQ World Wide DX
Contest. The decision to bring it back was part of a three-pronged response
by CQ to perceptions that DXing activity outside of contests was dropping
off. The other two new programs are the CQ DX Field Award and the CQ iDX
Award. Information on all three programs is available on the CQ website at:
                     http://www.cq-amateur-radio.com

CY9 QSL MUSEUM. Duane, WV2B, has decided to create an on-line CY9 QSL
Museum for expedition QSL cards from St. Paul Island (CY9). He states,
"Some (CY9 QSLs) have been published on the internet, but over time
seem to disappear." Please look at the Web page at:
                http://www.stpaulisland.net/cy9qslmuseum.html
If you have any CY9 cards in your collection that are not listed on the
Web page, please scan the QSL and send them to Duane in jpg format; it
would be greatly appreciated. Many of his cards and St. Paul items were
lost in a recent home fire, so any input is appreciated. Please indicate
the year of the DXpedition if it isn't indicated on the scan of the
    card.

only a few days left to submit your choices for the the best QSL Manager
for 2005. The nominations will end on the last day of January. John
states, "Again this year the response to the survey has been over
whelmingly from Hams outside of the USA and CANADA. North America has
shown little interest in this award for the Top 5 QSL Managers. Thanks
to all that have submitted their choices to the survey." Please send
your list of 5 QSL Managers to the following E-mail address and place
in "Subject" line "Top 5 Managers". The E-mail address is:

found on the following Web page at: http://www.qsl.net/wf5e

Joe, WD0M (ex-WL7M), reports that there is some confusion regarding

Requests for QSLs through April 2003 go to WDØM. Joe states, "WL7M
was my callsign through April 2003, when I moved to Colorado. I am
