Dear INDEXA Colleagues:

Mr. S. Suri, VU2MY, Chairman of the National Institute of Amateur Radio in
India, informs INDEXA that a team of five amateur radio operators, under the
leadership of Mr. Suri, recently visited Port Blair (Andaman and Nicobar
Islands). During this visit the Government of India extended special
permission to the NIAR to demonstrate amateur radio to local officials.

The team also met with the Lt. Governor, Chief Secretary, and other senior
officials to discuss a proposed hamfest in Port Blair in the early part of
2006. Based on these discussions, the administration of the Andaman and
Nicobar Islands forwarded a letter to the Government of India expressing its
willingness to provide logistical support for a Port Blair Hamfest.

Tentatively, the hamfest is proposed for February or March, 2006. The NIAR
assures us that members of the amateur radio community will receive three
months advance notice in order to make preparations for a visit.

INDEXA extends its gratitude to Mr. Suri and the NIAR; Prof. Ram Kapse, Lt.
Governor of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands; senior officials of the Andaman &
Nicobar Islands, and the Government of India for their gracious efforts to
coordinate and sponsor this event. We wish them the best of luck and we
support their efforts to bring the proposed hamfest to fruition.

In the best spirit of amateur radio, DX, and international goodwill, I
sincerely hope that you will consider representing INDEXA at this very
special event.

73,

Judy Roush, AA7UC
