[ADXA] history needed - W5GNG

This morning, I acquired a Vibroplex bug with a brass plate which says:

W5GNG Editor WGDXC Bulletin 1957-1959

I assume W5GNG is deceased, otherwise this bug would not be in circulation.
 Anyone know him?  Or any history associated with him?   I'll do an
internet search - may turn up something, but was very proud of this and
will clean it up and give it a prominent place in the collection.
