VU4 update for today....
1 Antenna line up..... 7 el. tribander at 60 ft above hotel roof, inverted
Vees everywhere, 80m dipole, SteppIR at 15 feet above Science Center roof,
and the newly arrived WARC Cushcraft yagi installed at the college dorm....
thanks donors for this WARC beam which arrived in its box ok with the 30
meter add-on box attached OK, too. The shipping worked good !
1.1. THE TEAM ( not "we") got a long pipe to put the SteppIR up higher.
Will work on that today or tomorrow... lots of interaction with the water
tank to which it is now attached, hi.
2. 40 and 80 are now getting more attention for the next two weeks... look
around 3.503-5, the approved freq. I am still asking the ops to listen ssb
in the Am. phone band for 40m SSB>.
3. I am not sending out any spots .... if u see a spot from K4VUD from now
to Dec. 28, IT IS NOT ME.
4. Yes, the team is on 80m now at night local time, and the op of
14.025/.028 last night local time was for real. At 0820 Z it is ten minutes
to two Andaman/India time.....
5. Everyone is vy thankful for all the nice words in notes of thanks and
congrats to the team.... makes them feel good and ... as one email said...
THEY DO NOT QUIT but stick to the radio.
6. I wish everyone could see the beautiful Andaman Island.... what a dream
location for a DXpedition... but I can enjoy it while the team operators
hammer away on the bands !!!!
Happy Holidays to all.... 73

Subj: [DX-NEWS] VU4 QSL info
Date: 12/19/2004 3:39:09 AM Central Standard Time
From: k4vud at hotmail.com (Charles Harpole)

To: k4vud at hotmail.com, dx-news at njdxa.org
To DXers:
Mr. Suri VU2MY, told me directly that QSLs sent to the NIAR headquarters as
per the NIAR web site address is OK for sending in QSLs there for VU4.
HOWEVER, do not include cash in your mail, he says.
I asked him repeatedly,"Will cards get way-laid or 'misplaced' somewhere in
the mail?" His assurance was that the NIAR address is ok for incoming mail.
"No cash" however. He has the hope of posting on the NIAR web site a list
of all calls of received QSLs.... that should help if it can be done.
If you want to make a donation, please do that by other means rather than
the ordinary mail. About 40 cards have already arrived there.
The team is working on the chance of a stateside QSL address also, but
nothing definite at this time (Dec. 19). 73,
Charles Harpole
