Hello DXers from Andamans.....

Here is another update....

1. Saraha and the other ops have learned vy much over the past two weeks
and send thanks to all callers for their patience.

2. Bharathi is a contact machine.... she is at the rig virtually all the
time... She is calling when I hit the sack and was logging QSOs this morning
when I woke up at dawn local. WOW.

3. Please be on ur best behavior in the coming days because some Big Wigs
are coming to watch the ops (from India). Many levels of the India
government are aware of this operation and it is doing great things for ham
radio in all of India. I predict many youngsters will get VU licenses
because of the interest this DXpedition has generated. The most powerful
person in India today (I am told) is VU2SON who probably helped get this op
going now.

4. We have a nice 80m dipole and are looking what to take down to put this
up high on the Hotel. Maybe by tomorrow. We have dipoles--inverted Vs---
for all bands and now two beams up, so if a 15 m dipole has to come down for
80m, there is no real loss in operating flexibility.

5. NN6EE has pledged a 15 band pass filter.... a 20m is sorely needed....
hint, hint !!!

6. I will again gently recommend a trial transmission freq of 14. 140 + -
... listening way up... in order to make the USA freq police violate their
sub band allocation in order to jam the VU4.... maybe this will be done....
maybe not.

7. More 40m operation is on the agenda this coming week and Daily DX sez
prop shoud peak in the next 2 wks.... hope so.

8. Why do the operators stop xmissions suddenly ? (a)Because the power
went off (b) someone came into the shack with --food---questions---other
stuff. (c) Something has to be repaired/replaced/installed right now.

9. Why do ops change freqs suddenly? (a) they mistakenly think this will
thin the pile (b) someone reached over and hit the vfo (c) wind changed
the beam direction and the rig stopped loading on that freq.

10 Why don't they stay on one freq? THERE ARE MULTIPLE NOISES AND WEIRD
SIGS THAT POP UP AND DOWN over here and yesterday's freq is today's
impossible jam up, etc.

11. Remember, Bharathi will be here to the end of December.... keep trying.

Thanks to all for the great encouraging messages... all passed to the
operators (when I can get them to break away from the headphones).

73,
Charles Harpole
