During this period, it is estimated that the NCDXF has granted over $1.5
million dollars in support of DX-related activities. The Northern California
DX Foundation's web site is at http://www.ncdxf.org/ [TNX K6RIM]
QSL GM3VLB ---> Andre, GM3VLB reminds island chasers that the only way he or
Alex, G(M)0DHZ "can cope, is to QSL direct only and this does NOT mean that a
direct request without return postage will be acknowledged". Andre has
received 11 QSL requests in the last week with no return postage and these
cards will not be replied to.
QSL HC8N ---> Please note that the new QSL route for HC8N has been via W5UE
for a few months now. He maintains a web page for DXers to check the status
of their QSL request at http://www.datasync.com/~w5ue/qsl-w5ue.html [TNX

RTTY to North America, South America, Africa, Middle East and a big majority
of Europe were posted on 27 September. This operation has been approved for
DXCC credit. [TNX G0TQJ]
QSL VIA OM2SA: George is the QSL manager for the following operations:
3A/N9NC, 3A/W0YR, 5W0MO, A35MO, A35TO, AP2MY (CQWW CW 1995 only), CE0Z/KM9D,
FO0MOT, HA/N9NC, KM9D/C6A, N9NC, VP5/KM9D, XR0ZY, ZF2MO, ZK1QMA, ZK1TUG,
ZK2MO, ZK2TO. QSL to George Sipos, 93013 Trhova Hradska 550, Slovakia. [TNX
OM2SA]
QSL VIA VE3LYC ---> Cezar, VE3LYC confirms he is the QSL manager (direct
only) for all the IOTA and Lighthouse activations carried out by Dennis,
RZ1AK and his team. Bureau cards should be sent to RZ1AK.
QSL FROM MONGOLIA ---> During his recent staying in Mongolia, Ken Claerbout,
K4ZW took the opportunity to speak with several of the local operators
concerning problems people are having with QSL cards from Mongolia. They
tossed around a few ideas for improving the situation and decided to give the
following a try. For those who are interested, K4ZW will act as a collection
point for cards:
- cards must include an SAE and greenstamp (US dollar) or NEW style IRC per
callsign (the old style IRCs are no longer good in Mongolia);
- do not include multiple callsigns in a single envelope and do not put US
postage on the return envelope as the replies will be mailed from Mongolia;
- at the appropriate time, Ken will box up the cards up and ship them,
probably to JT1BG for distribution, via registered mail or DHL.
This will ensure that your cards get in country. From there it is up to the
guys to distribute the cards and answer them. What Ken is asking in return,
is a small donation to help defray the cost of shipping. He will probably
ship the cards every couple of months depending on the volume received and of
course once he has enough to cover shipping expenses. "Obviously I cannot
guarantee you will receive a card", Ken says. "Consider this an experiment.
If it works and there is sufficient interest, we'll keep it going. If not,
then at least we gave it a try".
VI3JPI ---> The VI3JPI activity from Lady Julia Percy island (OC-251) logged
2883 QSOs in the seven continents (AF 7, AN 2, AS 716, EU 1281, NA 661, OC
195, SA 21) during 52 hours of actual operating. They had to reach the island
by helicopter (four trips) because the sea was too high. The weather was very
wet and windy the first two days, making operations quite difficult. They
were able to return by boat, but only after much hard work moving the
equipment down the 30m cliff face. The four team members (namely Paul/VK3KXG,
Peter/VK3QI, Jack/VK3WWW and Tom/VK3ZZ) were active on 10m (158 SSB, 113 CW),
15m (173/31), 17m (88/171), 20m (1492/302), 30m (33/220), 40m (2/87) and 80m
(12 SSB), plus one QSO on 2 metres. [TNX VK3QI]
VP8GEO VIDEO ---> The VP8GEO South Georgia 2002 video is now ready,
completing "part 2" of this year's South Atlantic "Micro-Lite" DXpedition
video series. Both Part 1 (VP8THU) and Part 2 (VP8GEO) of this video are
available on DVD discs in addition to the standard VHS video cassettes. For
more information please visit http://home1.pacific.net.sg/~jamesb [TNX 9V1YC]
