Hi Ted,
Try this:-
Always open PCHFDL first then AirNav, on Airnav menus Sources - Acars 
Realtime Interface - Sources - Live Data from other decoder, switch OFF 
the HFDL decoder then reopen the window and switch back on again.
Always works for me, but if you do it from the "A" on the toolbar it 
sometimes fails.
You may have to turn off, then back on, the Flight List to kick start.
