[ACARS] Wacars SME

Mike and list,

I am no expert, but there is a known issue with ANAD feeding data to Wacars.
I quote from the manual of Posfix v.2.1, which is a freeware tool for
improving Wacars DDE client performance:
"The main problem for DDE purposes, is that ANAD adds a blank line at the
beginning of each message and doesn't include the check digits (a 1 or 0) at
[t]he start of the text. This throws WACARS because Airmaster and SkySpy do
this."

Posfix is used as a DDE client of ANAD (or other decoder), and is itself a
server for Wacars. It also can be used with its own maps. You can get
Posfix 2.1 and the upgrade to v.2.2 at http://www.posfix.fsnet.co.uk/ (this
site does not work in Netscape Navigator, but does work in MS Internet
Explorer). A word of caution: I have not yet been successful in getting
Posfix to work in Windows XP, although it works fine in Windows Me and 98.

Good luck,

Subject: [ACARS] Wacars SME

Hi,

Is anyone a Wacars SME (Subject Matter Expert)!! I have just begun to
experiment with it as a prelude to using it to map HFDL reports. Firstly I
am trying it with AirnNav Acars Decoder to see what the data is like as it
is very quiet on HF down here during the day. When I interface the DDE
server to ANAD I lose the last character of the aircraft registration and
the last character of the flight number. Also the ground station id does
not get reported either.

Why?

I assume there is a reason for this but I can't seem to figure it out. It
most likely appears to be a problem with ANAD in its reporting format, is
that correct? Is there a solution?

Thanks for any advice.
