[ACARS] official acars list rules

Hi to all
In the hole time I�ve had the list a set of �list rules� has never been
posted I think if there posted around once a year it�s a good thing
Everyone is usually very good about following the rules especially the
unspoken ones thank you. Please do not reply to the list use

Seeing as these rules have never been put down on paper I don�t expect them
to be perfect. The following where the rules as I understood them when I
joined acars, some of the unspoken rules,etc. there not in absolute stone
and are open to amendment. The goal here is to have a set of rules that you
the membership for the most part agree on of course I have final say over
any rule and the rite to add them if necessary. This will be rare as
personally I hate rules but everything must have some :(  and I�d rather
have this is a community project (can of worms I know):)

Acars list rules

1 Under no circumstances is anyone allowed to post any personal information
about anyone at anytime. You are allowed to post messages that have the
personal information removed (not fussy about how you can use a row of
xxxxxxx or a blank space       ).

2 Discussion about acars software is encouraged but any discussion
containing software unlock codes, cracks, or any other discussion on getting
out of paying for or following requirements to use the program is not
allowed. The only ones who have a right to do the above is the authors of
the program (we know most of you and it's very unlikely you would do that)

3 posting of website addresses of interest to the acars community is ok as
long as the topic the link points to is acars related. There is some leeway
for taglines but even there if the link is not something an 8 year old could
look at the poster will be removed

4 debates on any subject are a great thing but all to often they turn in to
fights. Debates are encouraged on this list. But any debate that turns into
an argument or fight will be ended and action of discipline will be handled
off list with out notice if necessary.

 5 No spam.
   A: spam is considered any advertising of anything that is not acars
related (acars software announcements are not considered spam nor are list
announcements from the list mgr or announcements concerning qsl.net or
qth.net or donation request for qsl.net or qth.net).

6 No flaming.
   A: flaming is considered any personal attack on a person for what they
believe in this not only includes the normal social rules but the hobby of
acars also. It�s ok to debate and disagree but not to attack personally.

7 Mail to the list must be sent from the address you used to join the list.
All mail must be in plain text no html, multi-part mime.
No attachments. If a posting is over 40k in size it must be sent in more
than one part. With a max limit of 3 parts please keep postings as short as
possible.

8 no obscenities this includes post of a risqu� nature if there is a message
of the above nature it�s ok to post if reworded or otherwise edited not to
be offensive or inappropriate to anyone even children.

9 All mail about list operations is to be sent to mailto:kb2ytf@kb2ytf.com
and not posted on the list there maybe times this rule could be bent if it�s
of concern to the acars community as a hole any polls or questionnaires will
be announced with the address on the list but must be answered at the
address given in the post. Results will be announced on the list by me.

10 Any failure to follow the rules above is cause for discipline up to and
including being banned from the list at the list mgr�s discretion.
Without notice if necessary. If possible I�ll give a warning first accept
rule 1 and 2

11 these rules are subject to change and are current as of 03/23/02 any
changes in these rules will be announced on list



Like I said before this is only to set up a standard (officially) all of you
99.9% of the time follow these rules anyway thanks again keep up the great
work and post
