Hi Roger, & All
Was interested in your reply to Subin Jacob, especially :-
"It's a direct output on the HF225 radio so the signal can go into the
Mic socket on the sound card"
Didn't you mean the Line In socket???

The Record Out on the HF225 is a 350mV p-p signal while the Mic In on a
soundcard is designed for approx 1mV input. Many shortwave RX's have a
"Record Out" level of 1000mV p-p.
I'm just beginning to wonder if part of this "No Luck" problem with HFDL
is being caused by applying this level of signal into the Mic Sockets of
soundcards, must be a lot of fried input trannies about!!!, as the
circuits I have indicate that the input level control for the Mic comes
AFTER the first tranny - so does not protect it, and it certainly won't
like 350 - 1000 times its rated input stuffed up its backside.

Anybody got the input circuit diags for the AWE cards I can have a look
at?, or the chip numbers.

And before anybody "shouts" about no trannies, only chips - same rules of
electronics apply :-))

Cheers
