Hi Elliot & list,

I downloaded PC-HFDL and... It works!! I often heard ACARS bursts on HF
(8942 and
6712, on which I monitor voice now and then), but never heard of a decoder.
HFDL performs great! Here's a sample log on 8977. I also logged another
Lufthansa and a Finnair on 8942 working Shannon.

Here's another, more interesting log. Airbus A340-600 (an aircraft flown by
the Airbus company). Looks like a "normal" VHF ACARS message. This is on
11384 (Shannon). Apperantly the flightnumber was AP0172. It appeared with a
position report as F172 at 43.38.8N 1.22.13E .

Later on the day I logged it again, with another flightnr, AAP371F. This one
was listed as '3F1F17' LFMI = Istres, LFBO = Toulouse.

Lots of other flights as well, including a Polar Air Cargo enroute from
Ramstein to Kyrgystan on 11184 working Reykjavik.

The receiver I use for HF is a Lowe HF-225 with a 15 mtr longwire antenna.
Is HF Acars a topic on this list? I noticed a Yahoo group especially for HF
Acars as well.

It's a nice idea to be able to catch ACARS messages from all over the
world...
